COVID-19 Protocol

Valley Oak Charter is committed to continuing to provide dynamic, student-centered programming that takes into consideration the health and safety of all members of our community. Site-based activities will resume when permitted with a variety of procedures in place to ensure that students, staff, and parents follow the directions of the medical and state authorities and be confident in knowing that their school is a safe environment in which to grow and learn. • If your child isn't feeling well, please keep them home. If your child is showing even mild cases of COVID, it is very important that they stay home and we highly recommend that they be tested. You can find a testing schedule here.

  • Please evaluate your child's face covering. Face coverings should completely cover the mouth and nose and fit snugly against the face without gaps.

  • In the case of exposure to COVID, fully vaccinated individuals are not required to complete a quarantine unless they are symptomatic.

    • Unvaccinated individuals that have been deemed a close contact to a COVID-19 positive case (which means being within six feet, without a mask, for fifteen minutes or more in a day) there are two quarantine options:

      • 10 Day Quarantine: If the person exposed remains asymptomatic (without symptoms) they can end quarantine after Day 10 from the date of last exposure without testing.

      • 7 Day Quarantine: If the person exposed remains asymptomatic (without symptoms) they can end quarantine after Day 7 if a COVID test is taken after Day 5 from the date of last exposure and the Covid test returns negative.

  • In the case of a positive COVID-19 test, students and staff must isolate themselves. This means staying home from school and school-related activities for 10 days from the date of the positive test or the date of symptoms beginning.

  • To be cleared from isolation and return to work or school the following criteria must be met:

    • For Symptomatic Individuals

  • At least 10 days have passed since symptom onset; AND

  • At least 24 hours have passed since the resolution of fever without the use of fever-reducing medications; AND

  • Other symptoms have improved

  • For Asymptomatic Individuals

    • At least 10 days have passed since the date of the first positive COVID-19 test. If symptoms develop, then the criteria for symptomatic individuals (see above) should be used.
