Teacher
Valley Oak Charter is seeking a highly motivated and passionate credentialed teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with homeschooled students and their families and a deep understanding of state standards.
As a teacher at Valley Oak Charter, you will work with families to design and implement personalized educational programs for each student. You will collaborate with parents and students to ignite a passion for learning and stimulate the intellectual, emotional, and physical health of children.
You will support life-long learners and provide opportunities for students to pursue personal interests and make choices about activities and goals. Additionally, you will provide social opportunities, enrichment activities, and academic resources, and serve as a resource for families.
We are looking for a candidate who is committed to supporting and empowering homeschooled students and their families. You must be able to work independently, have excellent communication skills, and be comfortable working with a diverse group of students and families.
Required skills include but are not limited to:
Current California Teaching Credential
Working with alternative educational models
Monitoring on-line education programs
Supervising students in both classroom and non-traditional settings
Bringing your own Interests and passions to share with students
Working collaboratively with a teaching team
Experience with multi-grade teaching, diverse communities
Understanding and experience implementing of common core standards and SEL

Director/Teacher
The educator in this position also serves as program administrator and is responsible for organization and general staff and program oversight.
Some required work days may fall outside traditional school calendar.
Salary based on applicant’s placement on the VOC Certificated Salary Scale plus: Supplemental stipends: Administrative, $10,000; H & W, $5,000
Tuesday-Thursday, 8:00-4:30 (1/2 hour lunch)
FOCUS: Educational
Support programming (classroom, supervision, breaks)
Meetings (parents, students, staff, committees)
Daily Operations (review/authorize financials)
General supervision
Monday & Friday, 8:00-4:30 (1/2 hour lunch)
FOCUS: Administrative and organizational duties
Liaison with district, VCOE, CDE, charter organizations, etc.
Planning and outreach
Reports and Special projects
Valley Oak Charter is a TK-12 public school authorized by OUSD in 2002. Their hybrid program offers Independent Study options as well as on-site classes and activities for students who have chosen to homeschool. VOC staff provide resources, guidance, and support as they assist these families on their educational journey.
